From soft earth tones to vivid bursts of color, the landscapes we explore with our dogs shape the hues of Ruffwear gear.
Sure, dogs see colors differently than we do — but maybe it’s less about what they see, and more about how they experience it. The feel of earthy moss beneath their paws as they gear up for another trail run, the whiff of an orchid that's as fragrant as it is purple, and that sense of promise in a glowing sunrise as another day outside together starts to blossom.
That's the beauty of color – it draws you in and invites you to linger in the moment a little longer. It holds sentiment and energy, and it's why we choose our hues so carefully.
Here’s a look at the inspiration behind some of the colorways in our line.
TANGELO ORANGE
Bright and energizing like the citrus it’s named for, Tangelo Orange brings high visibility and bold spirit to water-bound adventures. It pops against sunlit shorelines and rippling waves — made for dogs who bring the stoke to every excursion.
“Tangelo Orange is a really key player in this palette because it provides high visibility but in a really fun and playful way,” explains Monica Broder, Senior Design Manager at Ruffwear. “The way we are utilizing this hue and pairing it with other warm colors to invoke different emotions is something you will continue to see in seasons to come.”
PURPLE ORCHID
Elegant, admired, and full of life — Purple Orchid draws from the flower’s vibrancy to inspire playful curiosity. It reflects the enduring connection between dogs and their humans, and the joy of moving through nature together.
BIOLUMIN BLUE
Like light dancing on water at dusk, Biolumin Blue evokes the joy and refreshment of cool moments on hot days. It’s a nod to the magic that happens when you and your dog explore under open skies.
“We leaned really hard into Biolumin Blue this season for our water and cooling products,” says Broder. “The nice thing about this color is that it has a vibrancy to it that elicits joy, but it also really helps us communicate the functionality of the products that we've applied it to, especially the cooling gear.”
MOSS GREEN
Rooted in the forest floor and rich with quiet strength, Moss Green echoes the calm confidence of a dog in their natural element. It’s earthy, grounding, and always in step with your canine companion.
SUNRISE YELLOW
Sunrise Yellow captures the first light of day — full of warmth, promise, and the power of a fresh start. It’s the glow that draws you and your dog outside and inspires you to move together in the quiet rhythm of morning.
